Week of August 29th - September 2nd 1. A. Argument- (noun) A discussion/written essay with both sides of the story B. I like to write argument essays, because I get to state both sides. 2. A. Cite- (verb) quote as evidence for an argument/statement B. Stating a cite is helpful to do, because you have evidence that you did the work. 3. A. Passive Voice- (noun) one of the two "voices" of verbs B. Passive voice mentions the noun receiving the action, before the verb is told. 4. A. Personification- (noun) giving no human things the ability to do human things B. In fantasy books, personification is used a lot to make non-human character have human abilities. 5. A. Point if View- (noun) a particular attitude or way of considering a matter B. Books can be told from 1st person where they are telling the story, 3rd where a narrator is telling, or 2nd which isn't used much in stories. Week of September 6 - September 9 6. A. Agile- (adjective) being able to move quickly and easily B. Since she is very agile, so she is good at sports. 7. A. Articulate- (adjective) having or showing the ability of speaking correctly B. People tell me to be articulate, because I mumble a lot. 8. A. Collaborate- (verb) work jointly on an activity B. We collaborate in class to work in group, and share ideas. 9. A. Evolve- (verb) develop gradually B. In science people believe that humans evolved from apes, because we have similar features. 10. A. Meticulous- (adjective) showing great attention to detail B. Maddie is very meticulous about her drawings, because she wants lots of detail to show. WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 12 - SEPTEMBER 16 11. A. Conversion- (Verb) change from one unit of measurement to another without changing the size of the object B. 25/100 = 1/4 = .25 = 25% 12. A. Hypothesis- (Noun) a mere guess about what will happen B. If I put one plant in the sun and one in the dark, I think the one in the sun will grow faster. 13. A. Irrational numbers- (Noun) a number that can't be expressed by a ratio of two integers B. 3.141592 14. A. Rational number- (Noun) a number that can be expressed by a ratio of two integers B. -1 2/5 = -7/2 15. A. Square root- (Noun) a number that produces a curtain number when multiples by itself B. 144 = 12 16. A. Elastic potential energy - energy stored in any object or material that is bent, stretched, or compressed. B. Sarah and Maddie was trying to test the elastic potential energy on a rubber band, by stretching it, and letting it go. C. A rubber band has elastic potential energy. 17. A. Newton- (noun) the unit in the metric system used to measure force. B. Newton is a physics rule named after the Isaac Newton, the man who discovered it when an apple fell on his head. C. When you're jumping from a boat to water, you jumping is the action, and the boat moving a little bit backward is the reaction. 18. A. Force Field- an area around an object where an object can influence another object with out touching it. . B. People haven't created a force field strong enough to with stand certain weapons, but we will never know if they will. C. Your phone case is a force field around your phone. 19. A. Inertia - how hard it is to get something moving, stop a moving object, or change the direction of a moving object. B. Emma pushed a toy car, it didn't have much inertia, because it was easy to stop, and easy to push, C. A Heavy rock rolling downhill on a straight path has inertia, because it's hard to push a heavy rock, stop a heavy rock, and change the direction of the rock. 20. A. Normal force- a equal but opposite force that pushes back when you stand, sit, or push on a surface so you do not sink through that surface. B. I pushed on the wall, and because of normal force I didn't sink through the wall. C. A book sitting on a table has normal force, because the book isn't falling through the table. 21. A. Accept- (verb) a proving of receiving B. Although Hannah accepted Sam's apology, she was still mad at him. 22. A. Affect- (verb) making a change to something B. Emma had a huge affect on the results of the vote, because before she voted the votes were even. 23. A. Effect- (noun) what happens because something else happened before B. Alex fell out of the tree, and because that happened he broke his arm. 24. A. Except- (proportion) everything but B. I like all colors,except neon yellow, because it's to bright to look at. 25. A. Principle- (noun) a foundation of truth that serves as the base for a system B. The Constitution is the principle of our government system, because our rights are written done. 26. A. Alliteration- (noun) the same letter or sound that that occurs with close connecting words B. Wendy Wallace walked with Winne Wonder, talking about Willie Wonka. 27. A. Allusion- (noun) calling attention to something without saying the name of that something B. "Ok I get your point Romeo, you don't have to be like that towards her", I said with frustration. 28. A. Figurative- (adjective) not using the actual meaning of the word B. Hannah's head was spinning and turning, because of the things she has to memorize. 29. A. Irony- (noun) saying words in a way so it sounds like the opposite B. "That's great and wonderful", she said with great irony. 30. A. Onomatopoeia- (noun) a word that's name is a sound B. While I was walking in the park I stepped on twigs, that when they broke they went snap. 31. A. Naive

Dana, you forgot to post 5 words also make sure you number them 1-20 and so on if that makes sense. See me when you post all of the vocabulary. We also need to work on sentence structure see me during Trojan Time

Dana, remember you need to use the word in a sentence not write out an example sentence most of your sentences don't include the word.
