People see that all of their favorite celebrities seem happy in interviews and magazines, but are they truly happy? A lot of people think that money can make them happy, it might for a while, but not forever. A lot of people think that fame and fortune can give you long lasting happiness, but the truth is money won't give you true happiness.
Although fame and fortune seems pretty cool, it's not what it's cracked up to be. Being famous is very stressful, can cause anxiety, and has a lot of drama and criticism with it. A long with not know who your true friends are, and not just someone that likes your money. Most people think fame and fortune will make you happy because all the awesome things that you get to do. Money can’t make people truly happy. If being famous is so great, why are a lot of stars miserable. I would be miserable if I was famous because there’s a lot of stress, criticism, and anxiety to worry about. I wouldn’t know who is truly my friend, or if they just like how much I’m worth. According to the article title Can Fame and Fortune Make You Happy, “ In reality though, it brings an enormous amount of stress.” “Stars have to wonder if their ‘friends’ like them for who they are or for what they have.”, and “Lawrence said simply stepping outside her front door gives her anxiety.” Stars don’t have the opportunity to live a normal life like we get to do. They don’t get go out on a walk, or even walk out their front door without being recognized and followed by photographers.
Some people think that money can make them happy because all the amazing perks that come with fame and fortune, it might make them happy for awhile, but not forever. According to the article title Can Fame and Fortune Make You Happy, “If being a celebrity is so great, why are so many of them, well, kind of messed up?” “It’s the kind of happiness you get when you buy a new purse,” “That kind of happiness fades within no time.” If money is a key to happiness than why do some celebrities seem miserable? Most celebrities end up in a bad situation when they get older. Most child stars want to get rid of being known for a kids show, so they do wild and risky things to be more adult like.
True happiness comes from spending time with others and the community. According to article title Can Fame and Fortune Make You Happy, “According to a study at the University of Rochester in New York, true happiness derives from having close relationships, time to focus on personal growth, and connections to your community.” Those celebrities could probably have all the money in the world and would still be miserable without social contact with people. Even though getting photographed by photographers or getting interviewed is sort of social contact, it's not the social contact that will make you happy.
Fame and fortune can be glorious at times, but is that really all worth giving up your normal life. People that have a lot of money and not a lot of true friends don't seem as happy as they could be. Money can't make you happy, true happiness comes from being with friends and family.
During winter break I got sick and couldn’t go to weight lifting that week or any other practices that week. It didn’t snow, so I didn’t really get to go sledding. I liked what I got for Christmas from everyone. Even though my break only lasted about two weeks, I got to do different things and I had a lot of fun.
Over break I went to my grandparents’ house and got to see my cousins from Illios. We got to open up presents from each other. Since it wasn’t absolutely freezing outside my older and two younger cousins and I went outside and ran around, playing hide and seek. My cousin and I helped our grandma cook food for Christmas and get things organized.
The week of Christmas my family and I did a lot of things. On Christmas morning we opened up our presents, a good percent of what I got was pajamas and clothing, I also got a new pair of shoes, and a record player. Than we made Christmas cookies and brownies with my cousins. The day after Christmas my parents took my cousins and I to go ice skating, I thought it was pretty fun.
About three days before Christmas day Autumn came over to my house. We exchanged gifts, Autumn got me perfume, chocolate, and earring. Carney couldn’t make it because she was sick, but finally she was able to come over.We exchanged gifts and hung out for a while, she got me two pairs of fuzzy socks and some perfume too. I got Autumn a shirt and a necklace that says friend on it, then I got Carney a pair of socks and a necklace that says forever.
Winter break was full of excitement and joy, but also some sick. I just don't understand why that feeling that you get during Christmas time can't last a little bit longer. I loved seeing my cousins, spending time with my family, and spending time with my two best friends. Over break I did a lot and had a lot of fun doing it.
